Roger Highfield is a Welsh-born science communicator and journalist who grew up in North London. He made history as the first person to successfully bounce a neutron off a soap bubble.
For two decades, he served as the science editor of The Daily Telegraph before becoming the editor of New Scientist from 2008 to 2011. Today, he is the Science Director of the Science Museum Group, a network of five museums that attract approximately 5.5 million visitors annually.
Highfield is a member of the Medical Research Council and a visiting professor at both the Department of Chemistry at University College London (UCL) and the Dunn School at the University of Oxford. He has authored or co-authored nine books, including Virtual You (March 2023), and has also edited two books by renowned geneticist Craig Venter.
