Libre y salvaje: La gran aventura de la vuelta al mundo a pie
Description
3 years. 4 continents. 31 countries. 33,000 kilometers. 12 pairs of sneakers. On foot. Alone. Unassisted. Non-stop. This is the story of the fascinating adventure of the first Spaniard to walk around the world.
“The meaning of life is to fight for our dreams, and this journey was born from a dream: to walk around the world. Why on foot, and not by motorbike, bicycle, or van? Because, as someone once said, I wanted the whole cake, not just a slice—a true adventure, a tribute to life and freedom.”
Nacho Dean is a 35-year-old who fulfilled a dream: to become the first Spaniard in history to walk around the world. Over three years, he crossed 4 continents and covered 33,000 km. Along the way, he witnessed a terrorist attack in Bangladesh, heard dingoes howling around his tent in Australia, was nearly assaulted with machetes by gang members in El Salvador, faced a rhinoceros in the jungles of Nepal, contracted chikungunya fever in Mexico, and tried ayahuasca in Peru…
On his journey, he felt the loneliness and fullness of being alive, experienced both adventure and danger, met incredible people and vandals who put his life at risk, saw with his own eyes that we live on a beautiful planet worth protecting, and, above all, learned that with small steps, you can go very far.
Nacho Dean is a renowned adventurer. He is the first and only person in history to have both walked around the world and swum between all five continents (fewer people have been to the Moon):
From 2013 to 2016, he completed a world walk expedition called EarthWideWalk, during which he spent 3 years walking across 4 continents, 31 countries, and 33,000 kilometers—alone and unassisted—in defense of the environment.
Between 2018 and 2019, he completed the Nemo Expedition, a challenge in which he swam between the 5 continents to raise awareness for ocean conservation.
Author of two books, Libre y Salvaje and La llamada del océano, published by Planeta, he has delivered over 150 international talks and has been featured in countless interviews and media reports.
